The shape of migrating birds at her mouth
She tells me  North America is south

For some birds She is named after
The tips of leaves

All this time I had been rubbing
Boats together  stern to stern

I woke up to bird watching
My mouth all over the bed

Sarah Heffner holds degrees from the University of Pittsburgh and NYU, where she also taught creative writing. Her poems have appeared in The North American Review and The Three Rivers Review. She lives in South Korea.
